Tearing up the Manual

A languid smoke-

lemon yellow

tumbling

through chalky brickwork

Ugly, frag-

mented

A stumbling

reflection

a smile on borrowed time

A mirror image blackened-

set in tar

The thick mass,

tangible

seeping fluorescent oils-

a petroleum glitter

slicked on all of your shoes.

Pick up the over-done metaphor

by the scruff of the neck

Domino-destroy

the fun-house mirrors

Demand reasons

-a formal apology

-a tumble-dry

-a blow-dry

-pamper

-A new mirror.

Cast something new

revised,

of the cut, hot glass

Melt to mirror something else-

deserved

Inconceivable until this very second
